Farms that offer community-supported agriculture (CSA) harvest subscription programs sell shares of their season’s harvest to consumers in advance and then deliver fresh produce throughout the season.
Ideally, you want to choose a farm in your community, as most require participants to pick up their weekly share at the farm. Many, however, allow pickup at alternate locations such as farmers’ markets. Ask or check their website for details.
It is advised to contact farms as early as possible, as shares are limited to what they can safely produce. All farms offer produce unless otherwise noted. Many farms start their CSA sign-up in December. Reach out early—help the farmer so they can help you to eat fresh and healthy in 2023.
